How It Works

How to make Hanukkah bingo cards

1

Pick your words

Start from the 40 ready Hanukkah words, then change, add or remove any of them.

2

Pick 5 x 5, 4 x 4 or 3 x 3, keep or remove the free space, and choose your colors and title.

How to Play

How to play Hanukkah bingo

Give every player a card and something to mark squares with. The caller reads the words from the caller list in any order and ticks each one off. Players mark the word if it is on their card. The first player to complete the round's pattern shouts “Bingo!” and the caller checks their card against the ticked words.

Ideas

Tips for a fun Hanukkah bingo game

Small touches that make the game more fun for everyone at the table.

01

Write words people know

Short words read faster and fit bigger on the card. Two or three words per square is the most that stays easy to read.

02

Add more words than squares

With 40 words for 24 squares every card is different, so players do not all win at the same moment.

03

Print one spare per table

Someone always arrives late or spills a drink. A few extra cards save a scramble.

04

Keep a theme

Classroom vocabulary, baby shower gifts, team jargon at work. A clear theme makes the calling part fun too.

Glossary

Bingo terms, briefly

Six words you will hear around a bingo table.

Caller
The person who reads out the words one at a time. Print the caller list to keep track.

The middle square of a 5 x 5 or 3 x 3 card. It counts as marked from the start.
Blackout
A game where a player must mark every square on the card to win. Also called coverall.
Pattern
The shape a player must complete to win a round, such as a line or four corners.
Markers
What players use to cover squares: dot markers, coins, candy or a pen.
Unique cards
Cards with a different mix or order of words, so players do not all win at once.
